Fire on the 11th floor of residential high-rise
MISSISSAUGA (CBC News) – No one was injured in a fire on a balcony of a Mississauga highrise building early Wednesday but two floors were evacuated until smoke cleared.
Const. Paolo Caretta, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, said police received a call about the small fire at 4100 Ponytrail Dr., near Burnhamthorpe Road East and Rathburn Road East, at about 12:45 a.m.
The 4K Guy – Just before 1h am this morning a fire broke out inside an 11th floor apartment at a residential highrise on Ponytrail Dr at the corner of Rathburn Rd in Mississauga. Multiple callers mentioned to 911 dispatchers the presence of visible flames on a higher floor balcony. Upon arrival the fire department conducted an interior attack and doused the flames quickly. Dozens of residents evacuated and took shelter in two buses that were dispatched for the incident. Fire crews battled the blaze in very high winds police completely shut the intersection during the time of the intervention.
