Fire in Basement of Philadelphia High-Rise

PHILADELPHIA – WPVI reports that a fire in the basement of residential high-rise caused evacuations early Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to Spring Garden at 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Firefighters found an electrical fire in the basement of the building.

The building was evacuated, leaving several residents outside in the cold waiting for SEPTA busesfor temporary shelter.

There were no reported injuries.
