HOUSTON (Houston Chronicle) – A car fire that erupted in a parking garage next to a downtown Houston hotel on Sunday afternoon sent dark plumes of smoke into the sky.
The blaze started when a vehicle in the Hilton Americas-Houston parking garage at Polk Street and Jackson Street caught fire around 4:30 p.m., Houston fire officials said.
There were no reports of injuries and the cause was not immediately known.
The smoke permeated an area with high-rise buildings east of the Toyota Center, while the flames blackened the side of at least five floors of the parking garage.
