HYATTSVILLE, Maryland (ABC7) — After a fire knocked out power to a high rise apartment building in Hyattsville, fire officials are saying 160 residents could be displaced if they can’t restore power.

The Prince George’s County Fire Department was dispatched to the Friendship Arms Apartments on 42nd Avenue around 11:15 a.m. Thursday after someone reported smelling smoke.

Fire was discovered in the ceiling above an apartment on the top floor.

No residents were injured in the fire, but the County Office of Emergency Management is on scene trying to contact Red Cross to help the displaced residents.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
