One Injured in Fire at Oakland High-Rise

Fire in a fifth-floor apartment

OAKLAND, California – The East Bay Times reports that Oakland firefighters responded to a fire at a high-rise apartment building on Monday.

Firefighters responded to a fire on the fifth-floor of a 12-story building in the 1000 block of 7th Street at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Some occupants self-evacuated while others sheltered in place.

Officials said firefighters had extinguished the fire within 15 minutes.

A woman living the in unit of origin suffered minor burns and sought her own medical treatment.
