Two more stories added to wood high-rise
High-Rise Operations
MILWAUKEE – A planned laminated timber high-rise for downtown Milwaukee is under a revised proposal to make it taller.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the previously approved 23-story Ascent is up for approval to be 25-stories and have up to 265 units.
New Land Enterprises LLP is planning to build the $80 million-dollar apartment building in May at 700 East Kilbourn Avenue.
The additional living units were added after the development team found room for additional parking spaces.
The Ascent is being built through a partnership with general contractors C.D. Smith Inc. and Catalyst Construction.
Construction will feature laminated timber in columns, beams, and other components.
Having a lower carbon footprint than steel and concrete construction was the reason given for using laminated timber.
Construction is expected to begin in May and take almost two years to complete.
