Rescue at Rochester, NY High-Rise Fire

Fire on the ninth floor at University Towers

ROCHESTER, New York – WHAM reports that one person was rescued on Wednesday from a burning apartment.

Rochester firefighters responded to a fire at University Towers Apartments at 625 University Avenue at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Fire on the ninth floor led to a second-alarm and forced people to evacuate.

Firefighters found and removed an occupant from the fire apartment.

The injured resident was transported to Strong Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
