Sprinkler Knocks Down Fargo High-Rise Fire

One injured in fire on 14th floor

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say an automatic sprinkler system helped contain a fire in a Fargo high rise building designed for elderly and disabled residents. No injuries were reported.

KFGO radio reports that firefighters were called to the 22-story Lashkowitz High Rise at about 6:15 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fire in an apartment on the 14th floor. A man in the apartment was evacuated and evaluated by an ambulance crew.

The Fargo Housing Authority, which manages the building, had crews on scene to take over clean up before fire crews had cleared.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
