Sprinklers Extinguish Honolulu High-Rise Fire

Small fire on 28th floor knocked down

KAKAAKO (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire at a Kakaako highrise on Wednesday.

The fire started about 5 p.m. in a unit on the 28th floor. It was extinguished shortly after firefighters arrived on scene.

Residents said they were evacuating, and that the alarms in the building had gone off.

HFD says the building’s fire sprinkler system was crucial in containing the fire.
