Toronto Firefighter Injured Battling High-Rise Blaze

TORONTO — A Toronto firefighter was taken to hospital Tuesday evening with severe burns to his torso after a 3-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in Scarborough.

Fire crews responded to the blaze just before 7p.m. at 30 Denton Avenue near Pharmacy and Danforth.

The fire started on eighth floor balcony which later spread to the ninth floor.

Officials say three residents suffered smoke inhilation.

The fire has been extinguished, but there is no word yet if residents will be allowed to return to the building.
