Two-Alarm Fire in Richmond High-Rise

RICHMOND, Virginia – WTVR reports that Richmond firefighters fought a two-alarm fire at a high-rise in the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood on Sunday.

Firefighters responded to the Jackson Warehouse Apartments at 12 South 17th Street for an apartment fire at approximately 8:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the sixth floor.

A second alarm was struck, due to the fire being in a high-rise building

Firefighters credited the  sprinkler system in helping contain the fire

Officials said the fire likely started in a kitchen.
